a very merry mood

it's the first Christmas in our new house!

the tree is trimmed + the cheer is real

Happy 1st of December! The Christmas countdown has begun.

We hurried back from our wine tasting adventure on Long Island last weekend to traipse through a local Christmas tree field and find the perfect one for our home. Although we said we'd finally be getting a big tree this year since the ceilings are super tall in my studio, we may have misjudged the size a bit (liiiiiittle snug when we first got it in, oops!). As soon as the panic wore off, the flying flurry of spiders were defeated, (yes, our tree came with a bonus, lovely pack of flying spiders) I had it layered with ornaments, and my absolute favorite "Happy Christmas" velvet garland I knew it was the right tree for our tiny house.

Since then things have felt very, well, merry around these parts. I am a little obsessed with this time of year, and the excuse to be extra cozy and festive is one that I take full advantage of. Lots of our older standby decorations are going strong, but this year I  fell in love with the glass feathered bird ornaments pictured. Aren't they the best?

I ended up keeping the tree a bit more minimal, especially after I decided to feature the feathered birds and velvet garland prominently. (I get asked a lot where I found that garland- it's from Terrain a few years back, out of stock now unfortunately and I can't seem to find a similar one) It's been fun adapting the décor to a new space and finding just the right nooks for our quirky collection of holiday cheer.
