Ginger, Grapefruit + Rosemary Tonic
Our weekend is bringing a busy couple of days of prop shopping and shoot planning for a winery re-brand. I will no doubt have all sorts of beverages on my mind for the next few weeks.
For your weekend, we have a bit of a pick me up. A super pretty addition to your morning routine. I nursed a hangover with this tonic last weekend and it was everything I needed it to be. Fresh ginger is good for all sorts of things and in particular can help an upset stomach, and if you're a cleansing mood, it's a refreshing start to the day.
Ginger Grapefruit Rosemary Tonic
makes 1 drink
1 large grapefruit
1 piece of ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
2 sprigs rosemary
1 lime wedge
In a kettle over high heat, bring 2 cups water to a boil. When water is boiling, pour into a small bowl containing ginger pieces. Cover and let steep for 20 minutes. If you prefer a lighter ginger taste, remove pieces and cool - if you want a stronger flavor, do not remove ginger and cool.
Halve grapefruit and juice each half, set aside. Place 1 sprig rosemary in the bottom of the serving glass and using a muddler or wooden spoon, bruise herbs until fragrant. Remove rosemary from glass, fill with ice and pour in 1/2 cup grapefruit juice. Add 1/2 cup ginger infused water, a squeeze of lime and stir to combine. Serve with a sprig of rosemary.
