Rosemary + Meyer Lemon Vodka Fizz

Robert had a bit more time off than me during the holidays. He texted me one of the days to say he was looking into hard boiling eggs in tea, repurposing a basket we had lying around for reorganizing some things in the bathroom, and infusing a jar of vodka with meyer lemons. It was like his day in the life of a pinterest mom. I thought his choice of vacation activities were pretty hilarious, but couldn't laugh too much because the vodka actually turned out incredible.

If you decide to make infuse your own vodka you'll be able to use it in lots of different drinks. This is the first cocktail we made with it and it's a good balance of herbal and sweet. This one takes a bit of planning ahead since the vodka will need about a week to get flavorful. 

Rosemary + Meyer Lemon Vodka Fizz
makes 1 cocktail

2 oz meyer lemon vodka
1 oz rosemary simple syrup
sparkling water

Meyer Lemon Infused Vodka
8 oz premium distilled vodka
3 meyer lemons

Slice meyer lemons. Pour vodka into a canning jar or sealable glass container, add lemons. Seal container and store in a cool dark place for approximately 1 week.

Rosemary Simple Syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
3 sprigs rosemary

In a small saucepan over high heat, combine sugar and water. Stir to dissolve sugar completely and bring a a boil. Remove from heat, add rosemary and cover to steap for 30 minutes. Remove rosemary and strain into a container. Simple syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Assembling the Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine vodka and simple syrup. Stir until chilled and strain into a coupe glass. Fill remainder of glass with sparkling water. Garnish with lemon and rosemary.
